lucid dreaming, ice cream catalyst
lucid dreaming is a tremendously enjoyable activity. an added bonus:
as the control of your dream self increases, the chances of a “bad
trip” seem to go down significantly. last night, with the aid of some
chocoloate mochi, i dreamed i was in some other house after an
operation, had two cats, and that it was too cloudy out to watch the
lunar eclipse.
there are quite a few sites that contain detailed how-to’s on lucid
dreaming, and i’m certainly not enough of an authority to teach it.
how i got started, though, was pretty simple and fun. it started when
i realized that if i eat ice cream pretty soon before i go to sleep, i
tend to be semi-conscious through a dream, and to remember more
vividly in the morning. that started the ball rolling.
from there, i’d occasionally have some ice cream before slumbering,
and enjoy some of the strangest and most film-like experiences. i do
have a recurring experience, that isn’t all bad. i’ve found that it’s
called sleep paralysis and is fairly common.

one time it happened, i wasn’t quite lucid yet, and reasoned that the
cause for why i couldn’t move quickly or turn on the light, was
because the laws of physics had shifted, and now i moved faster than
light.
eventually, i realized i was dreaming, and turned the lights on by
blinking, instead of a switch.

here’s a good site with usable info.
